Anthropic's expected initial public offering is shaping up to be a windfall for some of its earliest and largest institutional backers, with ICONIQ, Spark Capital and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC among those positioned for outsized gains. The company confidentially filed for an IPO in June and is reportedly preparing to begin marketing shares as soon as mid-October, with some investors said to be modeling a valuation as high as $2 trillion.
Early bets at a fraction of today's price
The scale of the potential payoff comes down to timing. Spark Capital was an early backer dating back to Anthropic's first major funding rounds, while ICONIQ led the company's $13 billion Series F in 2025 at a $183 billion post-money valuation. GIC participated in Anthropic's Series G in February 2026, which valued the company at $380 billion. Each of those entry points sits well below the valuation Anthropic could command in a public listing, meaning stakes bought even a year or two ago could be worth several times their original price.
