Visa reported fiscal fourth-quarter adjusted earnings of $3.48 a share, up 17% from a year earlier and ahead of consensus estimates, on net revenue of $12.1 billion that climbed 13% year-over-year. Payments volume rose 9% on a constant-dollar basis to $4.1 trillion, with cross-border volume, often the most closely watched line for signs of global spending health, up 14%. Cross-border volume carries outsized weight in how analysts read a Visa quarter because it captures international travel and ecommerce spending, categories that tend to be among the first consumers cut back on when they feel financially stretched, making the line a rough real-time proxy for discretionary spending confidence worldwide.
Transaction growth stays in double digits
Total processed transactions reached 74.2 billion for the September quarter, a 10% increase from a year earlier, underscoring steady growth in digital and tap-to-pay usage even as consumers face a higher cost of living in several major markets. For the full fiscal year, Visa's net revenue reached $45.9 billion, up 15% from the prior year.
