Meta built its business on advertising, but its chief financial officer says the company's next growth market could be corporate IT departments. On Meta's third-quarter 2026 earnings call, CFO Susan Li said AI is creating huge amounts of disruption in enterprise today, and argued that incumbent enterprise software vendors haven't locked up the opportunity. "We really don't believe that traditional enterprise companies have this locked down," she said.
The pitch
Meta's plan is to combine its AI models with business-facing products, APIs and agents built into its messaging and social platforms — AI tools embedded in apps like WhatsApp or Messenger for business customers — to compete for a slice of the enterprise software and AI market. The company is eyeing subscriptions, usage-based API pricing and messaging-linked fees as ways to monetize the push, which would give Meta a recurring revenue stream that doesn't depend on ad budgets.
